Bible Verse:
Isaiah 42:16 (NIV)
“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along
unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before
them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will
not forsake them.”
If you’re anything like me—a planner who likes to know how
the next phase of life will unfold—then you understand the desire to take
control. To steer the wheel yourself. To make only the turns you’ve carefully
chosen and avoid the ones you promised yourself you wouldn’t take.
In many ways, this isn’t so different from New Year’s
resolutions, or as people often say, “new year, new me.” We enter a new
season with hope, lists, visions, and expectations—certain that this time,
things will go exactly as planned.
But sometimes I pause and wonder: how long do these plans
really last?
God Leads Where We Cannot See
Isaiah 42:16 reminds us of something deeply comforting: we
step into a new year with expectations, but we do not actually know what lies
ahead. Why? Because we cannot see beyond where we are right now—this moment.
But God can.
He sees ahead of us. He knows every turn the year will take.
He knows whether our plans will stand or need reshaping. And while God does not
stop us from planning, He invites us to do something far more meaningful—to
place our wishes, dreams, plans, worries, and struggles into His hands.
A Gentle Invitation Into the New Year
So as we step into this new year, this is the invitation: let
go and let God.
Hold on to the promise in Isaiah 42:16, and trust that God
will faithfully lead you—step by step—along unfamiliar paths this year.
Love and blessings always,
Emem
Prayer
Father God, as we step into this new year, we place our
plans, dreams, worries, and uncertainties into Your loving hands. Lead us along
unfamiliar paths, guide us when we cannot see clearly, and turn every dark
place into light. Smooth the rough places before us and help us to trust You
fully, even when the way feels uncertain. Thank You for Your promise that You
will never forsake us. We step forward in faith, knowing You go before us.
Amen.
